Darwin Tours
The gorgeous Top End city of Darwin may seem as though it’s off the beaten track, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Located in Larrakia country, this bustling, lively and very modern city is actually quite small, but more than makes up for it with its amazing people, stunning tropical feel and all the amenities you’d expect from any large Australian city.
Appropriately named after the infamous Sir Charles Darwin, the city (yes, the city itself!) is teeming with a host of native and unique mammals, birds, reptiles – including the mighty croc – and plants. The spacious street layout of the city is framed by the glorious Timor Sea, with calm bays, mangrove estuaries and recreational reserves aplenty. Because of the abundance of estuaries and easy access to the ocean, Darwin is famed for its excellent fishing and many an angler hunts for their prized barramundi here. In fact, you can even hand feed hundreds of fish species at Aquascene, on the northern end of the Esplanade! Swimming, snorkelling and diving opportunities abound and there’s nothing quite like jumping into the cool, refreshing water after one of Darwin’s hot, tropical days.
The city is full of great little café’s and boutique stores, museums, art galleries and exciting tourist attractions. The stunning surrounds are ideal for bushwalking and nothing beats a Darwin sunset over some of the most unique wilderness on the planet, accompanied by a cool glass of wine and a meal of the freshest seafood you’ve ever tasted!
